About Us

The Sage School will be a specialist secondary and Post-16 school for children and young people with anxiety and mental health difficulties, all of whom will have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Guided by our vision, “Rebuilding Confidence and Restoring Futures,” our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every pupil is supported to regain self-belief, engage with learning, and realise their potential.

Our ethos is centred on empathy, resilience, and personalised care. We aim to empower pupils to manage their mental health challenges while developing the confidence, independence, and coping strategies they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

This role comes at an exciting time for the setting as we transition from an established alternative provision setting to an independent specialist school.

About the Role

This role focuses on delivering personalised education to pupils who have struggled to access mainstream schooling due to anxiety, trauma, medical needs or other emotional barriers. You’ll work in a small, nurturing environment, building trust and confidence through patient, student-led teaching.  You will teach on-site, in small groups.

What We’re Looking For

 - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent (experienced UQTs will be considered)

 - Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4

 - A trauma-informed, flexible, and empathetic approach to teaching

 - Work collaboratively with other professionals to support the students' overall development

 - An understanding of EBSA and the barriers faced by these learners

 - A passion for supporting students to re-engage with learning at their own pace

What We Offer

 - Small class sizes

 - Supportive, experienced staff team and wellbeing-focused leadership

 - Ongoing CPD in mental health, trauma-informed practice, and SEND

 - A safe, calm, and student-focused environment

 - Competitive salary

 - Flexible working hours

You will find further details on the role in the attached job description document.

🧠 You won't just be teaching - you’ll be helping students rebuild their confidence, rediscover their potential, and take steps back into learning.
